The High Valleys of the Himalayas

The Himalayas or "abode, alaya, of snow, hima" correspond to a series of mountain ranges stretching over 2400 km in length and from 250 to 400 km in width, separating the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau. In India, it is also bordered on the west by the Indus valley and on the east by the one of Brahmaputra.

We invite you to an exploration of some of these high valleys in this extraordinary range. We will cross remote areas, we will experience a unique blend of travel, culture, history, ethnology, magic and of course of great religious fervour. Before engaging in those unique mountains of deep Buddhist culture, we will cross a region more marked by Islam. The monasteries may be of over 1000 years and there, Hindus and Buddhists live in perfect harmony in the remotest areas of the planet. We will visit these ancient Buddhist monasteries nested in splendid landscapes, in the protected atmosphere of the high valleys of the Himalayas. Ancestral cultures are there, passed orally from generation to generation, but sometimes in a written way too. All this send us back to a world of truth, which will certainly survive the turmoil of the modern world.

This timeless journey off the beaten track will be done with 4 wheeler car. Many stops will make you enjoy these unique landscapes in the world, with cascades, green meadows, forests, and this permanent erosion which gives colour to the mountains and unveils their geological structure.

Please note that the visited areas are still poorly equipped with tourist infrastructures. We will stay in the best possible hotels, but we will have a few nights in more rustic surroundings. Much of the circuit takes place at a height of 3000 meters and we will have passes up to 5000 meters. We know that many of you are waiting for travelling off the beaten path, in regions whose culture is strong, without any influence from elsewhere, whose landscapes are unlike any other and whose greatest beauty is perhaps that of those human beings a little out of the world !
